A Thing For Brown

Aahh, it’s such a cliche: the amount of times I’ve uttered the words “well, you’ll never see me wear xyz!!!” … being followed by me exactly wearing said “no-go”. It happened to Birkenstocks. Leggings as pants (ok, there is a right and wrong way of doing it). Flip flops. Those Teva sandals (though I did not end up buying them). Open heeled shoes (yes, true story). The list could go on, but the point I am trying to make: I also always said that brown was the one colour — ok, together with orange — that I would never wear. NEVER.

But here we go, it’s 2019 and I am adding one brown piece after the other to my wardrobe. It all started with a vintage clutch found at a night market in Berlin (thanks, mom!), followed by a vintage cashmere coat from a Vancouver thrift store and a dark brown gel nail polish, then, of course, "my precious” early birthday present in the form of the Jerome Studio Sash tote bag, and a lovely pair of dark brown croc leather boots from Flattered. What can I say, it’s a thing right now. The best part? It looks so, so good with an otherwise all-black look.
